The Dartmoor Donegal Waistcoat - State Blue
A substantial traditionally tailored waistcoat, individually cut and made in our Devon workshop from W. Bill Irish Donegal, a 440gsm / 15.5oz 100% pure wool cloth.
The richly textured slate-blue Donegal cloth is Scattered with distinctive multicoloured flecks of red, orange, yellow, green and blue, creating the characteristic depth and individually for which traditional Donegal wool is known.
The Dartmoor has a straight, square-cut hem, giving it a different character from our pointed-front waistcoats. The side seams are positioned slightly towards the back of the garment, helping to create a cleaner, more shaped silhouette through the waist.
Two lower welt pockets maintain a simple, uncluttered front, while original British-made James Grove & Sons buttons add another traditional detail.
Rather than a conventional lining-fabric back, the Dartmoor is finished with 100% wool honeycomb back, together with an adjustable rear strap and buckle. Inside, a distinctive London street-sign patterned lining from Lear Browne & Dunsford, made from 56% viscose and 44% acetate, provides an unexpected contrast to the richly textured wool exterior.
Designed to work equally well with traditional country clothing or more relaxed tailoring, the Dartmoor is a substantial wool waistcoat with character both inside and out.
